Melinda Gonzalez survived bouncing between at least 13 different foster homes from the age of six to aging out of the system in her early 20’s. Melinda found herself on W. 25th with all her belongings in a black trash bag aged out of the foster care system with no where to go, no money and no real education. Melinda’s story is unfortunately how most foster youth who age out of the system end up, no where to go, no money and no real education.
However, through hard work and dedication to building a better life for herself and her children Melinda was able to start a humble cleaning business All 4 You Cleaning Services and turning it into a respected thriving residential and commercial cleaning business going on 8 years strong. She takes every opportunity to reach back and try to help the next foster kid in Ohio.
What does it mean to you to pursue your God Given Goals?
I have been called to give back through LETITSHINE: there is a light at the end of the tunnel. I would like to be able to provide a foster child an opportunity for not only employment, but for confidence, grow their skill set and expose them to positivity so they can see from someone who has been in their shoes that they can make it, there is a way out. Hopefully this opportunity will help this youth build a foundation that they can build on for the rest of their life whether they stay with the All 4 You Cleaning or move on in a different direction. Melinda is also the head sponsor of "A night to Remember" Life is hard enough growing up in foster care but at least for one night they will be able to enjoy just being a teenager going to Prom.
